PROGRAM PICTOGRAM
Introduction
"Program Pictogram" is a digital fashion project that incorporates unexpected elements generated by algorithms. Its purpose is to showcase that program glitches can also be a creative design element.
"Disco Diffusion" is an AI painting program. When provided prompt with ideographic languages, such as Chinese, it generates characters that are semi-meaningful and semi-pictogram.
Based on this "glitch," the designer used the Chinese character "竹" (bamboo) as a prompt, generating a pile of works inspired by traditional Chinese Shanshui paintings. She skillfully extracted ideographic elements from these paintings, redesigned them, and blended them with digital fashion, yielding a collection of new Chinese-style garments. The creative process behind this series of works is unique. By collaborating with algorithms, the designer transformed program imperfections into innovative design elements.
This project seamlessly intertwines digital art with traditional culture, presenting a marvelous fusion of contemporary design and technology. Through these works, viewers can sense the symbiotic creation between the designer and artificial intelligence, as well as the boundless possibilities offered by new technology.
